Evanescence, Amerikalı Alternatif rock müzik grubu. 1998 yılında Arkansas eyaletinde vokalist Amy Lynn Lee ve gitarist Ben Moody tarafından kuruldu. Büyük çıkışı Fallen ile yapan grup daha sonradan Anywhere But Home ve son olarak The Open Door ile müzik kariyerlerine devam ediyorlar.Grubun şu andaki aktif üyeleri: Amy Lee, Terry Balsamo, Will Hunt, Tim McCord, Trow McLawhorn.Evanescence: Duman, buhar gibi kaybolmak, yokolmak, buharlaşmak gibi anlamlara gelmektedir.

The Open Door (3 Ekim 2006):Evanescence'ın 3 yıl aradan sonra çıkarttığı albümün prodüktörlüğünü Dave Fortman yaptı.Albüm Los Angeles'daki The Record Plant Stüdyoları'nda kaydedildi.Mart 2006'da Ocean Way Stüdyolarında Mixlendi.Albüm yine Wind-Up Records şirketinden çıktı.Albümde ki bass gitarlar gruptan ayrılan Will Boyd'a ait.

Evanescence Biyografi

Grup Amy Lee ve Ben Moody tarafından kurulmuştur.İkisi çocukken yaz kampında tanışmışlar ve grubu kurmaya o gün karar vermişler.Amy Lee piyanoda Meat Loaf'ın "I'd Do Anything For Love"ını çalarak oyalanırken Meat Loaf hayranı olan Ben Moody ise gidip hemen Amy Lee ile tanışmış ve grubu kurmaya karar vermişler.Kendi çabalarıyla yayınladıkları, cd yazıcı ile çoğalttıkları ilk EP'leri ile yerel olarak tanınmışlar.Onlar eski albümleri şu an komik diye nitelendiriyorlar.Arkasından ikinci EP "Whisper" ve 2000 yılındaki ilk albüm "Origin" albümü gelmiş.Ancak grup özel bir neden yüzünden bu albümü hiç yayınlanmamış saymak istiyorlar.Bu sebeple bazı sitelerde ve resmi sitelerinde "Falen" ilk albüm gibi görünmektedir.Grup "Fallen" albümüyle büyük bir kitleye ulaşmıştır.Grubun albümü 600.000 satıp Billboard ilk 10'a girmiştir.Cristian-Rock kitlesi tarafından çok sevilip başarı grafiği hızla yükselişe geçince bu kitleye hitap eden müzik marketlerinden toplatılmış.Amerika'da Hristiyan Rock şeklinde bir olgu vardır.Dini temalar işleyen gruplar büyük ilgi toplar.Sadece bu türe endekslenmiş plak dükkanları, radyolar ve festivaller var fakat grup üyeleri kendilerini gotik tarzını kabul etmedikleri gibi yalnız bu kitleye hitap ediyor durumuna gelmek istemedikleri için bu tür dükkanlardan albümlerini toplatma kararı almışlardır.Şarkılarda çoğunlukla aşk ve çaresizlikle birlikte karanlık temaları dikkati çekiyor.
